Cape Point, within Table Mountain National Park, is an iconic South African destination steeped in maritime history and known for its natural beauty. The natural vegetation of the area, fynbos, comprises the smallest but richest of the world’s six floral kingdoms. Apart from its untouched beaches, sheer cliffs and rich biodiversity, attractions include The Cape of Good Hope, the old and new lighthouses at the tip of the peninsula, the world-class Two Oceans Restaurant, curio shops, and Africa’s only commercial funicular – the Flying Dutchman. Cape Point is one of the Cape Town Big Six attractions, hence a must-see on any visit to the Mother City.

The Flying Dutchman Funicular is a funicular railway located at Cape Point and takes its name from the local legend of the Flying Dutchman ghost ship. The line runs from a lower station at the car park, up an incline to the upper lighthouse. The funicular leaves from the lower station every 3 minutes.
