The George Strawberry Festival presented by Ola is set to kick the September school holidays off with a sumptuous good food and a family weekend of strawberries, live shows, outdoor activities, sports and adventure on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of September at Redberry Farm.

You can expect to be entertained all weekend long! Live performances by local artists on the RSA Group Music Stage, will keep your feet tapping next to the SAB Beer Garden whilst enjoying refreshing beverages. Rugby fans can even keep score of the World Cup match taking place on Saturday midday. Test your skills in the McDonald’s Games Garden where you can play oversized classics such as Giant Bowling, Giant Jenga, Giant Dominos or even a sophisticated game of croquet.

Be prepared to take part in the Strawberry Festival’s main event the Adult Strawberry Eat-Off, where you will be challenged to devour as many strawberries as you can in 3 minutes. Dare to break the record of 1.669kg! If devouring strawberries isn’t your thing, take part in the Redberry Farm Strawberry Stomping competition whilst stomping your way to winning great prizes with your partner. For a more tranquil setting, pick your own strawberries in Redberry Farm’s strawberry fields and enjoy juicy sweet and delicious fruit.

Kids can run wild in the Frogfoot Kids Play Park and literally, bounce off the walls! The Frogfoot Kids Play Park has an array of inflatables such as the Gladiator, Rockets, Giant Slide and many more. The Redberry Farm Family Stage has an entertaining line-up including the Ace Models’ Miss Strawberry pageant, Mascot Parade, magic tricks as well as the lively Lollos! Kids can compete in the Kids Strawberry & Ice Cream Eat-Off competitions to win prizes. Redberry Farm’s favourites will be available such as the Redberry Express Mini Train, Pedal Go-carts, Pony rides, Bubble Ball and Bumper Boats. The wooden playground as well as feeding furry bunnies are always popular entertainment to little ones.

Challenge yourself to take part in the trail run and get your heart rate up by participating in the Trail Run powered by Outeniqua Refrigeration. The 5km trail fun run/walk is perfect for families with children over the age of 9. Or take part in the 9km trail run which will take you through stunning strawberry fields with the beautiful Outeniqua Mountains in the backdrop. CrossFit will show off their robust talents hosting their “Fittest in the Garden Route” competition which will run throughout Saturday. Test your inner compass by conquering the largest permanent Hedge Maze in the Southern Hemisphere which has seven hidden stations for you to find.

The outdoor country market is filled with hand crafted products and exquisite food to tantalize your taste buds. For a berry-licious experience visit the Strawberry Emporium that will serve strawberry eats and treats all weekend long. Make a point to visit the Francois Ferreira Strawberry Food Theatre in collaboration with Gastao’s, where celebrity Chef Francois Ferreira will be preparing a fine selection of heavenly dishes.
